Imagine taking a picture, and within a few flicks you have changed the colors of complete surfaces or areas within the scene. ColorChange allows you to take any image and manipulate the colors within the image to allow you to visualize what a room, landscape, person, or object would look like as a different color. No need for labor intensive area selection - with its unique "Magic" selection tool, ColorChange can easily select the desired areas of your image, and lets you change the colors within seconds of using the app. Make a persons skin green, the sky yellow, wash an entire image with color highlights, or paint your walls black!

ColorChange is perfect for interior designers, decorators, or do-it-yourselfers looking to choose that perfect paint color. It is the first tool designed specifically for the iPhone that gives you timely visualization of your next painting or decorating project - never pick a bad color again! It is also great for people that want a versatile toolbox to do color editing of images on their iPhone. With the simple but rich set of tools provided, virtually any image effect is possible. From washing entire images in color tones to highlighting or de-saturating areas of an image, anything is possible!

The "Magic" selection tool uses a combination of edge detection and adaptive smoothing to help you select areas of your image to manipulate. By default it is designed to work with the normal lighting of indoor iPhone photos, and can be adjusted for particularly dark or bright images. In addition to the "Magic" selection tool, you can select areas of your image by defining a polygon, tracing a region, or painting. You can then selectively remove areas of the selection with the eraser tool.

Choosing the target color is performed with a set of Hue, Saturation, and Brightness slider controls that let you choose any color of the rainbow. As you adjust the sliders, the selections in the image will automatically update to show the color changing in real time. A full screen color swatch can be opened to provide more information on the chosen color for automatic or manual paint matching. An additional Blend slider allows you to specify the intensity of the chosen color against the image - with it, you can quickly preview the original unaltered image (when the slider is at the far left) and gradually blend in your chosen color up to an overly intensified version (when the slider is at the far right).

Key Features:
- Take a photo, or choose from one in your library
- Magic Selection tool for automatic area selection
- Color blending preserves the shadows and highlights of the original image
- 4 selection modes, plus eraser
- Zoom in for detailed editing
- Real Time Color Change visualization
- Full screen color swatch mode shows your color as RGB, CMYK, and HSB
- Shake to "Undo"
- Variable brush widths

- Save any image to your Photo Album, or simply commit your changes as you go
- In-App help
- In-App Emailing of images

Tips:
- "Commit Changes" allows you to commit the current color and selections, and begin using a different color. Using this method you can color your image using multiple colors.
- The magic selection tool can be configured on the settings screen. If the magic tool does not give the results you expect, undo your changes, adjust the magic tool slider on the settings screen, and re-select the chosen area.

Pros and cons of ColorChange app for iPhone and iPad

ColorChange app good for

Excellent app! Does what it claims - well. Its a little slow dragging the sliders but no biggie tapping on the color choices works great. Im sure this is a performance increase for a future update. How about a second color fill option? A very impressive app! Well done guys.
Very impressed with the new version. Original was ok, but with zoom u can do a lot more. Its like colorsplash but u can acually change the colors which is very cool. Contrary to what another review said, u can use different colors, u just need to "commit changes" between colors.
Just wish I could use two colours! For trim and accent walls!
I can see where the bad reviews are coming from, but I found it very helpful. I expected a slightly better color choice, but Im still happy with it.
First of all, spend a little time with each photo using the various selection tools...youll get a much better image. Also, speaking as a graphics professional, I can understand why the color selection tools might be confusing for some, but it really is the best way to manipulate color in this app. Some suggestions to make this a 5 star app: 1. Ability to save "works in progress" so you can continue editing or changing colors later 2. Be able to add color values numerically (for those color geeks like me out there) Suggestions to make this the "killer" 5 star app: 1. Add database of paint manufacturer colors 2. Add Pantone colors 3. Add basic image editing controls like brightness/contrast (for cleaning up image before changing colors - we all know the iPhone camera isnt the best...)
This is the aspect I was looking for in a painting app. I like the selection tool so I can edit my anime pics with that much more ease. The only thing I wish it did had was a way for me to erase a selection if I went over the edges when Im in not in the magic selection tool. Other than that, its really kick-@ss

Some bad moments

1. It would seem like a no-brainer but this app does not have a zoom feature to allow fine manipulation of the picture. 2. Also missing is any ability to use more than one color; want to see how your house would look in green with yellow trim? No can do. 3. The magic edge detection in my trials was very poor, leaving a blotchy border, and the other tools are very difficult to use with any sort of accuracy. (again, zoom would make them usable) Very disappointed. Only good if you are wanting to see one color change on virtually blank wall. Would ask for a refund if I could.
It really looks like a joke to me, poor color choice, wrong mix, does not give you any idea of what would be something in another color, real waste of money!!!!
Worked the first time. Hasnt worked since. New versions havent change this.
Crashes after a few minutes, difficult to try it if it doesnt work. Save your $ and dont bother!
The idea is good but color selection is so bad that its pretty useless
The app essentially does what it is advertised to do. But it doesnt do anymore than that. I took a pic with my iPhone, of a room I want to paint and was able to alter the walls color, in the pic. But the controls are clumsy and the ability to alter hues and tones of broader color families are too confusing. This concept is better than the execution.
